Help
My new K700i randomly stops...sounding.
It will have no sound when playing a file from media player, but what's worse - not even when dialing. The receiver won't -also- hear anything, nor will the dialler.
This is getting me nuts. I paid a not-so-small amount of money for a cellphone and i can't even talk with it? What's down?
Firmware is R2L and i can't update it within the forthcoming days.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
[edit]
I have also discovered that when this happens, if i turn off the phone - then i won't be able to turn it on again without removing the battery. What the *eck

You got a faulty phone get it exchanged. Is it under warranty?

Yes, but they don't have any other K700i's in store and i should wait some pretty much time.
Does updating the firmware break the warranty? The warranty contract is quite messy and quite impossible to get anything from it when it comes to "a simply yes/no"
Does anyone has an idea on how to fix this on what to do before going to the store with it? I just got (less than 24hours) and you can imagine how dissapointed i am. I would expect such a thing from Sagem maybe or any other brand - but not from SonyEricsson
I did a master reset as well - it fixed nothing.

Dont do the upgrade by yourself. Take it to an sonyericsson service centre. I hardly think that will solve the matter. I think it is a hardware fault. It is better you wait and get your phone replaced.

Updating the firmware from an authorised SE service center will not void your warranty.
Yes, the K700i has a fair amount of bugs, (the phone has sold pretty well and as a result, the number of bugs reported will always be on the higher side - Take Window's for example!) but it is a good phone and it's unfortunate that the piece you received possesses a manufacturing defect. (I don't think a master reset would help you)
Cheers!

upgrading the firmware thru third parties like from total multi server does void the warranty, if you do it from the SE service center it doesnt void the warranty.
maybe a stupid question but is the volume set to 0 in the settings in the phone ?
If nothing works, exchange it, no matter how long it takes. Better safe than sorry.

That's the 'issue' - in our city (actually, in our country i guess -RO-) we don't have such a service. Upgrading it means doing it online - which also involves a complementary expense in order to get the DSS 25 cable.
No, i'm not a n00b - the volume is set to either 4/5/8 (tried multiple values, believing that the volume value was causing this), and the result is the same. At random times, without any touch, the phone would just not "give" a sound - no matter that it's a video/ringtone, a "tone" from the keypads or an alarm. Also, the mic won't do a thing.
Also, the fact that the phone wouldn't start unless i remove the battery seems pretty strange. Needless to say how annoying it can be.
So dissapointed. Oh boy

I've just changed the SIM (thinking it's the SIM - it's the 'nasty' way of SonyEricsson models -compared to Nokia- of 'keeping' the SIM inside, and i usually scratch them whilst trying to take them out) but after an "user busy - retry?" message, whilst redialing, the phone closed himself.
Needless to say, it required a battery removal.
In a few hours i'll be on my way to the service. Thanks for your feedbacks (very useful and handy forum i've discovered) and i'll keep you posted.
Fingers crossed
Regards,
Adrian.
