OK, here's my problem. I purchased a new p910a about a month ago with the above firmware. It's an unlocked unit and I purchased it new. In reading this forum and checking the Sony Ericsson Update site, it seems I have a different firmware than most people. I'm going to assume that the firmware I have is newer. I am however, having a few issues with my phone. Here they are:
1. When I receive calls, I don't always here the ringtone right away. I've tried several ringtones to test. The callers picture comes up, and it vibrates, but no ringtone. Again, this doesn't happen ALL of the time, but often enough to be annoying.
2. I was having an issue when syncing my phone where I'd get an error during the sync, however the sync completed successfully. I sync with a PowerMac using the latest iSync, and related apps. About half way though my sync, the phone would display KERN-EXEC error. However the sync would always complete with no problems. I then received the error once when turning my Jabra 200 headset off, so I'm going to assume this is a bluetooth issue since I sync via Bluetooth.
Questions are, (a) is anyone else with the same firmware having related issues? and (b) would it be worth it to me to update the phone with the firmware that is posted on SE's update site? Is it even possible to "back" to the older firmware. I used to have a p900 before this and never had any of these issues. PLEASE HELP!

your firmware does indeed appear to be newer than the firmware I have. I haven't tried to upgrade my firmware online lately because I am visiting my parents and I do not have my computer. I have never had the problems you have with incoming calls or bluetooth. I suggest you backup your phone and try online update. If it is older, more stable firmware then you have nothing to lose.
Your issues with firmware make me wary of the newer firmware. Hopefully your version will not be released for online update since it appears to have to have so many issues.

well i have same problems with my P910a, R4A006 but i am using PowerBook, instead of Powermacc, i guess nothing different here. Maybe we should wait for 10.4 to come out.

I have the same firmware R3A04 but the CDA number is different its CDA162005/6. I face the same problum listed by u in your point no 1. Sometimes i just get the callers pic and no ringtones.... I have also tried to salve this issue with different types of ringtones but none worked...... But this happens only on some occation......
I dont exectly know what might have triggered such a annoying response my P910i..........
