hi, and welcome to esato.

yes i think bluetooth is used alot. I use it to connect to my laptop as a modem and it is useful to transfer files from phone2phone or phone2pc.

and of course there is the infamous "bluejacking" craze.

bluetooth is a standardized tool for sharing info between any device. so that's what makes it so universal. and appealing.
yes, there are drawbacks, but it's definitely a huuuge step over ir. it used to be a gimmick earlier... but now it's definitely caught on!! and has become part and parcel of any mobile device worth its salt.(or blueberries
