> irda on Laptop/pc Erratic - Problem Solved

So, has anyone out there just got their new T68/T68i and tried to Sync with their Laptop via Infra Red only to find that the IR on the Laptop finds the phone then looses it. Irritating eh. Spoke to Microsoft who emailled me a HotFix which, in the end, I didnt need. I came across the cure for the problem just by hunting around.
So anyone out there who is just about to remaster or have remastered their computer..... there was/is no need. For your info, Iam running Win98 SE but this change of settings should apply most Operating Systems.
If anyone out there who needs to know, then just attach a post to this one.

I will describle it as if I was changing it on 98SE. XP May differ slightly but you should be able to track it down.
On Desktop, right click 'Network Neighbourhood'.
Go to 'Properties'
Find the Protocol which has 'IRDA v3.0' (IE the first mention of IRDA
on the list of Protocols)
Right Click and select 'Properties'
you will now have a number of different options eg 'Bindings'
Look under 'Resources'. You will find a tab down menu allowing you
to change the connection settings. Change this to 'Plug & Play'
If the 'Resources' tab isnt there, then go thru each setting in
'Properties' and check each Drop DOwn menu until you find the option
for 'Plug and Play' and change it.
'Apply' the change and then you should be instructed to restart your
computer.

I couldn't find anything about this.
However, I can tell you that I have had some problems with certain HP laptops (OmniBook 6000 and 6100). These computers didn't communicate with the Ericsson phone at all untill I lowered the Infrared connection speed.
To change the connection speed, go to Control Panel, find the icon Wireless link and double click it.
Click on the tab Hardware and then the button Properties.
Click on the Advanced tab and there you should have a setting called "Speed" something and the value is 4000 000. Simply lower the value. For me it worked to go down to 115.000 but 57600 also worked good.
