Sorry guys, I've searched the forum bout couldnt find the answer. So whats the diff, I have a vague idea that reformat is more extensive than master reset but am not sure what reformatting does that master reset does not?

By the way do I loose my latest firmware if I do either?

Thanks

For ur kind info kradcliffe, I've done a search on "master reset", "format" and "reformat" and while I get info on bits and pieces on both reset and reformat, I dont see any thread which makes a comparison between the two. It would be helpful (since you seem to know everything) that instead of shouting arghhhhh, you provide a link to the specific thread which discusses the difference between the two. I believe the purpose of esato is to be helpful to each other not to show off ur arrogance! Have a good 2005

Master reset will only delete user files, eg calendar, contacts, documents and media. All installed programs stay as they are.

Format will totally wipe the C drive and put all settings back to when the firmware was flashed. This means all standard apps will be there but any new programs will be deleted. THE LATEST INSTALLED FIRMWARE WILL STILL BE THERE.

If you are doing a format, it's better not to restore a backup - as all the crap from before will go straight back to where it came from.

I know we are all a nice bunch on Esato, but logging in and reading the same question all the time begins to frustrate me after over 2 years

Keith

You just have to keep answering the same questions over and over because that's what forums are for. People are going to be asking the same things over and over and if you can't handle it. You don't get involved in that particular thread.

It's not that hard.
