What GSM data platform do you use the most for your mobile data needs: CSD, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS? If you use a combnation of 2 or more, list them in the order of frquency of use. I use GPRS regularly, and CSD as a fall-back for my mobile data needs. This message was posted from a P800

Haven't got EDGE, but GPRS is adequte for my 3650....Tried UTMS on a NEC616v, the speed is amazing...pity you can only surf 3's site not the web...
EDGE will be lightning, does the D500 have EDGE do you know?

GPRS would be my answer given this choice but lately even that is getting used less and less in favour of wifi which is so much more available now (probably 75-80% of the places I am in on a normal day) and so much cheaper too since its pricing is not based on data volume but on time... and its much faster

I did try UMTS on the V800 but I just get too scared of high bills when I have access to high speed data but get charged by the kb

@masseur: Yeah, Wi-Fi is another fast-growing platform around here too, and dumb me left it out. Looking forward to using Wi-Fi (aargh! That rules out the 9300 as an option for my next device) @SE Rules: No idea whether D500 has EDGE. This message was posted from a P800

The major snag about WiFi in my country is there are not many hotspots yet, plus the few available are mostly commercialised i.e. you pay to use. PLUS, the prices are crazy! Well, all that should change significantly in the next couple of years. This message was posted from a P800

Currently It's GPRS...Cheap and reliable. EDGE was launched last month down here in SA but haven't used it, would have to change my network and get another phone. There aren't extra charges for EDGE...Still get charged normal data rates. This message was posted from a T68i

@AYA...Networks realised that people prefer GPRS... Few people were using wap when GPRS was only limited to post paid subscribers...poor folks had to make do with slow CSD. This message was posted from a T68i
