> k700i dropped in coffee.welcome any advice

I took it apart and washed it with distilled water but i saw that the keypad short circuited in three places and on the main board it seems that one of the tiny rectangular thingies was cover with a hard black gunk. After thoroughly drying everything i put battery back in and plugged in to adapter. It did not power on and but the red light on the power button still lit up. Could the phone still be saved or should I just toss it?

It's a little bit late now, but you should have let it air-dry for a couple of days, at least, before inserting the battery.

If there was sugar in the coffee it dries in to the circuit boards and then you are screwed. If not then the phone might have been salvageable but without letting it dry (airing cupboard is best) properly you are out of luck.
Maybe there should a sticky thread about what to do if you drop your phone in liquid? There have been so many posts regarding this (most recently the "I dropped my k700 down the toilet) that it might be useful to the next to damage the phone using a liquid substance.

you did correct rinsing with distilled water,but you should of allowed natural drying.personally i'd bin the phone,as they're pretty cheap brand new nowadays.good luck

If the phone was ON when you dropped it in the coffee, it probably was already dead before you opened it. In most cases, as long as the phone is OFF at the time it was submerged to liquid, it can be saved by simply drying it off before turning it back on again. A tiny amount of water/liquid in the delicate areas - the transmitter most specially (as this is a hi-frequency device) is very disastrous for the phone.
I think the only think you can do now is take it to a SE service center and let the professionals assess your phone's status.

You washed your phone? Exactly how did you wash it? Under running water or using a soft cloth? In any case no water must be used. (At least imo) you should have got a blotting paper effect and got all the coffee stains.

@govi - no dude, distilled water is different, when u heat water, it goes to vapour form at boiling temperature right ? That vapour is pure water without any minerals, or solvents in it, now if you condense that vapour, u get pure water which is distilled.
Didnt u listen in class in your 10th or 11th grade or were u sleeping as usual ?:roll:
