> UIQ 3.0 on P910 possible?
Bookmark topic
According to UIQ Technology, the release of UIQ 3.0 is imminent. From my readup of it, it seems it will offer a more enriching experience than 2.1.
UIQ claims
"UIQ 3.0 also has richer graphics; Themes are enhanced with the possibility to put skins on components, and further support for animations and semi-transparency has been added as well."
Question now is will it be possible to upgrade our P910s to UIQ 3.0 - that would be awsome methinks!

Well seeing as it is not even possible to put UIQ 2.1 on a UIQ 2.0 phone eg P800, I seriously doubt it.
I can't wait for the UIQ 3 phones from SE though

Not much info on UIQ 3 has been released yet... I'm not sure if it can be used on touchscreen phones since it's focus seems to be smartphones more than hybrids. It might be a totally different UI... but again, I'm just speculating here since we can only wait and see.

There was a preview on my-symbian which said it will allow support for both touchscreen and conventional devices with buttons!
An exciting prospect for SE!

???!!What?
The P9xx range are smartphones and I'm pretty sure that UIQ 3 will work with touch screen phones. I don't understand your thinking that you say P9xx are hybrids and not smartphones. They are smartphones.
It would be totally nonsense if UIQ 3 didn't support touch screen devices.
Nokia have seen the error of their ways and are moving towards integrating Series 60 and 90 so future 'Series 60' devices will support touch screens.

Would certainly be nice to have UIQ 3 on our aging P900's, but to be honest, i don't think the hardware/RAM in the P900 is enough to support it. It runs slow enough as it is, and with limited RAM i don't see it being possible, especially with a more graphical UI. Perhaps on the P910, with it's larger RAM capacity, but we'd all probably be better off buying a new phone. After all, why would we all stick with our Pxx0's if SE brought something far more superiour out? Higher quality camera's, more memory, brighter screens, longer battery life, faster processors, maybe WiFi.. think about it guys, you'd ditch your Pxx0's faster than a Nokia user being offered a free P900..
Thats my opinion anyway.
Take it easy.

But the sad thing is that it not seems possible to use all the apps we purchased for Pxx0 and spent big money:-(

yes, because we all DO earn way too muhc money, so much infact that we can afford to ditch a perfectly good device and purchase a brand new one everytime a company updates their products
jesus, what kind of fantasy land do you live in?
