yeah we had a bit of a discussion with krubach a couple of days ago
here and that seemed to be the chosen device. As mentioned there I've installed a couple of these for friends and its fairly straight forward setup

congrats... now you should go to the
support page and download the manuals and familiarise yourself with the device
you'll want to allow only certain MAC addresses to access it and you should also read up on WEP and other encryption just to play it safe

ok well MAC address is the unique address of a network card and you can use the to limit only those network cards to access you router.
go into a CMD window and type ipconfig /all and you will see the various network devices you have.
the MAC address is the 8 digit number grouped in pairs of numbers with a dash between. e.g. 11-22-33-44-55-66-77-88
assuming you have a wired ethernet in your pc and your wireless one you will have two sets of these and if you have bluetooth then there will be a 3rd
this MAC address is all well and good but wireless sniffer program can figure this out easily and its possible for people to pretend to be that device so WEP (wireless encryption protocol) was developed and this can be a 64bit or 128bit (or more I think) key that you choose and set into the router and every pc or device that is to use the router and only when the devices exchange the correct key can they be assigned an IP address and gain access to the router
it has been found that wsniffer programs can figure out the WEP key after capturing around 5-10 million packets of data so newer and more secure encrption methods have been designed such as WPA and WPA-PSK etc
for the home user just using WEP should be fine though some say you should change the key once a week and businesses should change it every day
the other thing you should consider is setting the router to not broadcast its SSID which is the identifier for your wireless network. Thismeans you will have to manually set the connection in any devices you want to connect to the router but it does help stop people figuring out there is even a wireless network there ni the first place
hope that helps
