Hi - The unlocked sim-free version due out soon of this phone has been suggested to me as perfect for what I need. Does anyone know if the unlocked purchased version will have the ability to show details of incoming text messages on the OUTSIDE screen, i.e picture of text message sender and name of text message sender. My unlocked sim-free SEK700i does this and it's so useful - even more so considering that the V800 is a flip phone.

What I would like to know is this: you say the unbranded will be released soon. When? And which carriers will pick it up?

BTW, can anyone figure out why SE would put an external screen on the phone and not use it to display such details? I would have thought that is the most useful thing to display on the screen!

I'm asking because when the K700i was first released, the unbranded sim-free version could show a pic of who the SMS text is from - whereas the Orange branded phone did not - that's as far as I can remember anyway!
Like the previous poster, I see little point in having a colour front screen without providing these facilities, yet the Sharp GX30i doesn't. That will only show a photo of a voice caller, not a text message sender. As I send and receive somewhere in the region of 1000 texts a month, this feature is important to me.
I realise it's guesswork at this stage, but signs look hopeful if the Vodafone software does it.
