Hi
Just got my 910 on Orange. I have a few questions:
1. When I have it in the cradle the battery icon doesn't animate in the same way as it does when it has the charger plugged into it. Is this normal? If not, does that mean it's not charging?
2. What headphones fit into the headphone socket. My normal set which I use on my MP3 player are too large. Where do I get ones that fit?
3. I have HandyDay. It has the option of ticking a box to make it open automatically when the phone is switched on. But it doesn't. All I get is the little tray icon which I then have to use to open it. When I do have it open but then shut the keyboard the app dissapears. Any way around this?
4. Is there any way of entering appointments into Calender (or Handyday for that matter) that span a number of days? For the End parameter I just get a time and no obvious way of entering a date for it.
5. What app do I need to see and edit/delete application or system files?
6. How do I install an app specifically onto a memory stick rather than the phone memory? I don't see a choice being offered using the SE software on the disk.
Thanks in advance

Hi there,
1 - it should, may be another Orange thing?
2 - The headphones you got with the P910 work OK. If you want to use others you will need to get a 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter or solder another couple of decent buds on to the original cable. (Sennheiser HD25 do the trick)
3 - It's an Orange thing. The Orange desktop disables this function in handyday. There is a thread in here about using the SE desktop to override the Orange one. That would then enable HD to run on flip open.
4 - NO. I think this function is available in AquaCalendar. It's the only serious calendar and scheduling app out there
5 - Sman
6 - You do get an option on ALL sis files. It gives you the option at some point during the install process. Maybe the ones off the CD are different but I doubt it. Maybe you're just skipping over the option .....????
The Orange firmware is quite badly customised. I suggest before doing too much tweaking that you get to CPW or send it to aboveconnection and get your P910 flashed with the generic SE firmware.
No more Orange shit after that

Yup get the generic one. Who wants to see that ugly orange color on the screen anyway.

Hmm, my phone didn't come with headphones, only a handsfree kit which has one earpiece.
Thanks for the answers.
How much do they charge to flash it?
Does sman work on the oranged 910?
Re: 6: "6 - You do get an option on ALL sis files. It gives you the option at some point during the install process. Maybe the ones off the CD are different but I doubt it. Maybe you're just skipping over the option .....???? " - The only option I can see is when it asks me which disk to install on and gives me the choice of C: or D:. Whichever I pick it goes on the phone memory!

Strange, all SE P910 phones come with a stereo headset. Hmmmm
CPW may flash it free, depends the sort of mood they are in
Sman works on all P910 phones. RTFM first. you can do a lot of damage with it.
If it only installs on C then that's a fault. There are a lot of quirks with the Orange FW, looks like you've just found another one.
I had all these issues with Orange on my P800 - never again. I spent more getting a generic P910 and saved all this grief. I feel sorry for you, been there, done that ....

Is there any software one can use to flush their phone from home - remotely, which is hopefully free? I too have an ORANGE P910i which is unlocked and fortunately has not given me as much problems as my mate here!

Referring back to the guys first question, i think he's expecting the phone to charge from the USB connection when it's in the syncstation. You mention the battery icon animates when you have the charger plugged in, but you also need the charger plugged into the syncstation in order to charge it from there. If you follow the USB cable to where it enters the syncstation, there is another socket beside it where you plug the charger in.
Hope that helps.
I have 2 x Orange branded P900's, and i've never had a problem with either of them. They didn't come with the Orange homescreen, the only branding on mine is the MP4 when you turn the phone on, and an orange sticker on the outside of the phone. I was lucky
Any further questions, PM me.

Excellent thanks.
It DOES install onto the card (D:) - I just didn't know that until I got SMAN which showed me what was going on! My lack of understanding.
You are right about the USB. I assumed it charged from USB power. Shame it doesn't really.
I'm gonna check out the headphone situation with the supplier.

There is a thread explaining how to remove the orange homescreen without flashing the phone, if you do this handyday will work correctly.
Sman does cause problems on orange branded phones, although it hasnt crashed on my p910 since i removed the orange homescreen (but i dont use it much as there are other apps which do what it does better). If you have a PC, the easiest way to manage files on your phone is to use the P800-PC file manager
If you didn`t get the headphones in the package then you have been short changed, take it back or call orange and you should get them as they are included in the orange p910i box (i should know as i`ve had 3 of them now, and they all had headphones in).
