Hi,
I've just got this phone which i really like however there is one glaring error. I added all my contacts manually, without a sim transfer. When i receive a call or a text message it shows the number i have recieved it from and not the name it is saved under in my phone book! eg. Rob texts me -- his text appears under +44700000000 or whatever his number is. This has proved quite an inconvenience as when i'm being called i do not know who by.
I have even tried going through my phone book and adding the area code eg 07900000000 to +44790000000, to no effect.
There is only one way in which someone's number appears in my inbox of received texts. This can be achieved by going into my address book and editing their number, then recorrecting it and saving it again.
eg on this number 07912345678 i would remove the 8 then re add it. My inbox then recognises the number from my phone book and displays the name. When my phone is turned off then on again, this is however, lost.
Do i need to take this phone back to the shop? thanks

Have heard of people on Orange having this problem before which is strange. You do NOT need to save the numbers in international format unless OS is Symbian which K500i isn't. Are you saving numbers to phone or sim? I know some people have probs with caller ID if numbers are saved to sim....I always save numbers etc to the phone as I much prefer this. I did have a K500i on orange payg and entered all my contacts in standard format to the phone manually...caller ID and text ID was fine. Can't see this being a handset issue but may be something to do with software. If you don't get any joy on forum (replies can be slow) try googling query and see what you get......Good Luck!

I have installed my phone numbers to both sim and phone in an attempt to correct the problem. Still no answers from google

i'm using firmware R2AA003 and haven't encountered this problem. are you using an earlier version firmware?
