I was almost about to buy a K700i today. than suddenly i thought of something about going for a better phone and on top of it i checked out my friends 6600 today during night time in a almost dark room...and yes. i was amazed at what these nokia phones are capable of. the camera is just to good for night vision. its night vision in true sense. i mean i could see better in the cam then through my naked eyes! now thats amazing. i am a nokia fan again! lets say i was just a bit confused and misguided.

now figure this guys:
1) how can you even think of buying a phone which needs to be updated as soon as you buy like the k700i? the firmware is just too bad as everybody knows. and you have to keep on updating all the latest versions of firmware which coms in the market for better performance. i mean it doesnt make sense to update a phone which is brand new. and if you have to do that then its no good phone.

2)if you compare this k700i to nokia 6600 also, which is almost the same cost as k700i, the later beats it any day. first of all its a symbian 60 phone, a smartphone. and there is also no bug found in nokia symbian 60 series phones. not like these shitty SE phones which needs to be upgraded as soon as you buy them.

3) cam quality. now even a 6600 beats k700i any given day. if you dont believe this try using night vision at night where there is very less light. its amazing!

4)durability. these phones are preety much ruff n tuff. u can use it without any fear and roughly. i know it coz i do it my self.

5) too many softwares available as its symbian 60! you can use and configure as you like it. gives loads of oppurtunities.

6) memory card slot. s700 has it but the k700i does not have it.

7)and last but not the least. its amazingly user friendly. be it any nokia phone in any category, be it series 60 or series 40 or even the older monochrome ones. they all are too user friendly. none other phones of any other company is that good.

all these points mentioned above proves that nokia phones gives amazing value for money. i am also saying this from my own personal experience. i am using nokia 6100 from almost a year now but still its very good and extremely user friendly. i know its a very basic colour phone but it just does the job very perfectly. and i also have a monochrome 3330 which i am using from past 3 1/2 years. and it still rocks. it still has amazing clearity and good reception. both these phones are almost highly abused and have fell off on hard surfaces many a times but it still works great.

with nokia phones its like that, you buy it and you are happy user from the minute you start using it till the minute you sell it after a long time. it has amazing value for money. i bought a SE T610 before i bougt a nokia 6100. but only after a days use i was not happy and exchanged it for nokia 6100 which i am still using and its still going great from almost a year now!

i bet on this. its an open challenge! anyone who has used a nokia once...can never go to any other phone then. if at all they do, they might say all the good things about that phone, but their heart still belongs to NOKIA! and any user who has once shifted to nokia can never go back to any other phone!

nokia makes the most user friendly phones in the world and has great value for money. but i must say, only SE P900, 910 comes par with nokia smartphones. they are the only good phones with SE. rest all sucks. even the S700. i mean its too costly and what a HUGE and HEAVY phone! its not practical. after paying that kind of money, you should get a smartphone which is great with features. its too impractical. only cam is good but hey, if the cam is that important to you than roam with a digi cam instead. ya ya...i know nokia phones like 6600 or 7610 or even 6630 are a big, but hey, they offer you the best features one can have. a perfect smartphone! and if you worried for size than go for smaller series 40 models. SE S700 is too big but dont have those kinda features you get from a nokia series 60 smartphones. so its impractical.

I am a nokia user from past 3-4 years and almost shifted to SE with k700i but at the last minute, my eyes opened and i was saved!

i know this post will be not be received well by all the die-hard SE fans on this site, but hey, i posted this just to stop you guys from making any more mistake and select only the best! still if you think i am wrong, than just try a nokia phone for a few days, and then ask this question to yourself, " can SE beat nokia really?", and be honest coz if not then you are only fooling your own self.

so i suggest to all people that buy SE only if you are buying a P900 or 910. rest only go for nokia. because that the only equally good smartphone. never go for any other phone by any other company also. coz you will get bored with it just after a few days or weeks. none of them are good. i almost researched all the phones available in market like SE, motorola, samsung, siemens...but my verdict is NOKIA!

Thank you and i hope this post is helpful to you.

@Codfather

There was no need for that reply, the chap has made a point and whether one agrees or disagrees, there is no need to insult him.

@muzikman

I haven't upgraded the firmware on my K700 and I can't say that I have ever had any major problems with it. The camera isn't too good in the dark, but I have always found it to be one of the best non-megapixel cameraphones in daylight.

User friendliness is a subjective matter in that one person may find one interface better than another, whilst someone else may not. If you have bene used to Nokia mobiles then of course they will seem more user friendly than SE mobiles.

I was a Nokia user for a few years and I really got very bored with them, hence why I switched to SE. Their designs weren't (and still arne't) innovative or well thought out for the most part, in my opinion. I also do not consider Nokia handsets to any better value for money than handsets from any other manufacturer, in somce cases less so.

I doubt you will find many who will agree with your view here, but it is always nice to have someone bringing a fresh perspective to the proceedings.

well nice and long but kind of pointless in a very very se biased forum, i mean are you truly expecting a clean thread without any flame wars?
anyway about k700, it's still one of the best small phones out there, adn if i may ask, does it kill you if you take 30 minutes out of your daily routine and rive to the se service point and upgrade it? almost everything in today's world needs a patch or fix, and i'm quite happy that se has an online upgrade sservice and it's free even without warranty in their service points....
ok i too thought that s700 is too big but after using it for more than a month i can say that it's a great phone, i like it much better than my k700, it's just a fun phone, and i guess phone is the cruicial fact with s700, you can say it's one of the best if not the best phones but it wasn't designed as a smartphone, it was designed as a multimedia device that has a unique style, and imho it does that perfectly.
i have to agree though that s60 is an awesome thing and i really hope that se will use uiq 3.0 with some future phones, not everybody needs a touchscreen and that's where nokia is best at providing great non touchsreen smartphones.
but i have to say that i like the ui of se new phones much better than s40, but hey that's a personal view...
and about your bet, a person buys a phone for their individual needs and in my experience almost no one that i know has returned to nokia after using a se, that may be related with having a bad experience with a phone and some just therefore think that either se is shit or nokia s shit, based on a single phone!
anyway i don't think this "war" with se and nokia on the internet will ever end but it's imho foolish...
i like se better, so what? does that make nokia a shitty company? if i drive an audi does that make volvo shit?
no one can't deny that nokia is a powerfull company with good technology and with good phones....

rofl... comparing two phones, one with Symbian and one without. That's not very smart, man. Try it with the P910 and Nokia gets ass kicked. BTW maybe you should consider buying night vision goggles. It seems you would like it.

@tom.k

You are quite correct, comparing a smartphone with a non-smartphone isn't very useful at all; it is akin to comparing a laptop with a DVD player,they both offer one feature, which is comparable, but the laptop offers so much more.

I still dont know why you keep answering this kind of post, this is a sony ericsson forum, this people know it, and just want to create a pointless discussion, its like going to a nokia forum and say, hey sony ericsson rules because this and that..., they will not take it in a good way obviously, but anyway thats just my opinion

I must disagree when you say that looking through the camera is better than with your naked eyes, as that is theoretically impossible, but I am not going into detail!

Also I think that the FW on the K700i does not need to be upgraded, I have been using mine for 4 or so months and I never have thought about upgrading as I don't think I need to!

The cam is definitely better than the 6600 in the daylight, by far! I personally also think that SE firmware is good, although obviously having Symbian is obviously better!

And also the K700i is such a convinient size and shape, the 6600 is a kind of oval shape which isn't convinient and the looks of the Nokia are a bit, odd.

Anyway, just my thoughts, and I suppose they are yours as well, Thanks, Charlie.

The points raised are worthwhile as it reminds us to look around when it comes to buying new products. Try a few, and get the one you like and does what you want and need. If you've bought it, write an un-biased review and give the benefit of your knowledge.

i thoroughly agree about the 6600 imaging capabilities...but the audio and other little glitches are dreadful.i admit,the k700 imaging in low/mid light level is crap..and the build quality aint very good imo either.i must defend the s700...i feel it's very,very good,and is a HUGE improvement compared to the k7. @k700nut

The S700 is one of the best mobiles I have ever had, second only to the legendary T68i.
