First I swear I did a search on Oggplay and although I found 30 thread none address the problems I have. Can some kind soul pls help me out on these questions:
1) I read so many post saying that I should use variable or average bitrate during conversion but I dont seem to have this option on my dbpoweramp music converter. I can change the quality(kbps), mode (stereo or mono) and sample ( hz) but my bitrate is always labelled as "nominal bitrate" and cant seem to change that?
2) How do I sort the files in Oggplay based on titles, albums or artists as seen on the front page of Oggplay? I can only create subfolders? When I click on albums or artists, I get the msg "unassigned". So how do I assign the name of the artist or album?
Thanks in advance

Read a thread named "mp3 bitrate" and you will find the Right persons to ask. Second part, i think you need to have enabled and named the id3 tags.(the thing that comes when in winamp, Right click a song in playlist, and select fileinfo.)

Thanks for the reply, but I dont understand how playing around with my winamp on my PC will help me sort my files in Oggplay in my P800. Is there no way I can do the sorting from inside Oggplay itself? Thanks

if your original mp3 files are tagged with title, artist name, genre, etc., then once they are converted to ogg files and sent to your phone, ogg player shall classify and sort them accordingly. you can use winamp to create the tags by editing the properties for each song.
for phone purposes, a 48kbps bitrate ogg file is good enough and takes up a third of the space of an mp3 file.

As I understand it, having read a bit on the net last night, you don't want to be converting MP3's into oggs if you want decent quality. You wanna do it direct from CD or WAV - if you can. Any CD ripper will get the names of the tracks for you and tag oggs or mp3s with them.

Thanks for teh suggestion, I am using a CD ripper "dmc CD Audio Input" but I dont seem to be able to change the bitrate to either "variable or average" as suggested by many. I only get normal bitrate although I can change the quality (kbps), stereo/mono and sample (htz). How do I change normal bitrate to variable bitrate? Thanks

What if I'm converting from Wav to Ogg files? Do I need to use the variable bit rate then?
