Gmail doesn't provide an unsecured SMTP server (and I'm not sure if the P-series supports the secure protocol of gmail), so you'll have to use the SMTP server of your GSM provider (they usually have one)

Using another SMTP server doesn't affect your return email address, it's just that the SMTP server usually has to be on the network your using for it to be efficient.

Ask your GSM/GRPS provider for their SMTP server address.

You need to download an application called Profimail - I believe the most recent version is 1.35, from http://www.my-symbian.com.

This application supports SSL encryption, which the P900's inbuilt email client does not, and Gmail requires.

Good luck.

Dave

edit: Incidentally, thanks for your kind offer of the gmail invite but, as with most people who will be familiar with this problem, I already have an account!

sorry, I meant to say "unsecured"... I edited my post above.

I'm not sure if the authentication on the P-series is the same as what Gmail uses however.

I think it is ssl which the inbuilt client does not have. However latest firmware of k700 is said to support ssl encryption which gmail requires. This message was posted from a K500

It does work with a P910i. And no I don't want an invite -- I have 10 already
You just need to check SSl and startTLS boxes.

Yes, it does, which is why I suggested it!

Hi,
Sounds great. I just cannot find those SSI and startTLS boxes on my p910c (which should be similar to the p910i). Any tips where I can find them?

Thanks,
Johan
