I have T630, when you plug it in it says optimised charging I let it charge till only that last little slivver was left on the indicator so I though I'd hurry up the process and I turned off the phone, so now charging isn't optimised?? When it was turned off it started charging from the middle of the indicator, but I thought it was almost finished. So after quite a while the red LED finally goes off and the battery is fully charged, correct?? I unplug the charger and plug it in again the screen lights up and says charging AGAIN, I know the screen does drain power from the battery but two seconds worth shouldn't mean 10 more minutes of charging?? When it kindly finished I unplugged it and replugged it again and it said charging again????????? How on earth am I supposed to know when the battery is fully charged???????????????

What is the difference between Optimised and Non-Optimised Charging?

I think.. that with older phones, the phone has instructions to 'stop' accepting charge, and this only works when the phone is on. I think that's why the K700i 'turns on' when you charge it.

But I might be wrong.

SE or Ericsson then said optimised charging is the charging process in which your battery is charged at the right pace and charging stopped automatically soon as the battery is full. According to them, this is only guaranteed when you use original SE chargers; with non-SE chargers, charging is non-optimized :) This message was posted from a P800

well, that might not be such a big issue. with my brand new p910, i had the curiosity to check the status once it finished charging. it said 95%. i let it for another 30 mins and finally showed 100% ALTHOUGH THE CHARGING INDICATOR HADN'T BEEN MOVING ANY MORE!!! so i guess it's their habit to continue charging even after the indicator is full and stops moving. The charging process is a fairly black art controlled by a circuit within the phone. The fully charged indication can occur at anytime above 90 ish % capacity. As the batt reaches full, the rate of charge slows and the phone assumes the batt is full and charging slows to a trickle. By re-starting the charge process the fast charging occurs again. Provided you use original batteries and chargers, you cannot damage the battery. Things get interesting when you build your own, but thats another story...

@ijefferies
Yes but esato's the best place for that other story, are you saying you build your own chargers?

Yes, for charging model car packs. Made a bit of an error on the first one I made, and it charged the pack at over 10A. Everything got a bit warm, and the charger melted it's self b4 the fuse popped. I wouldn't suggest anyone uses a non-standard charger on a phone though, since a damaged battery may explode.

my old t300 doesn't even say optimised charging anymore, it just lies there as if a charger hasn't been connected, so after about 2-3 hours I reboot it, and the charge is full The batt indicator doesn't pass all the stages (green-yellow-red) It just goes from green to white after like 3-4 days

great phone I have here!!!
