I have just found this out and I would like share this with you.

if you go to
http://mail2web.com/pda/
using opera on your p910

Enter pop.gmail.com for server
and your gmail login including the @gmail.com
and check pop3 and SSL under Mail Protocol

you could then access your gmail inbox!

i thought gmail already supported pop3 and smtp...Can't you just use the pxxx to check your email without this site? By setting up a new message account?

I know the inbuilt email client does not support gmail access. Regarding why it does not allow, i'm still in doubt. (At least this is what i believe.) This message was posted from a K500

If Gmail is supporting POP, then the built in email client should support it. IMAP would be better though. I use www.fastmail.fm which works well with the IMAP client in the phone.

unfortunately the built in client doesn't support the neccessary SSL encryption, take a look at the thread "POP3 Gmail on your P910i", and this mail2web is one solution that has been mentioned a few times and does solve the problem satisfactorily

Yes I have.

And I have also enabled: "Forward a copy of incoming mail to" my phone. Which means that when a mail arrives I get an alert as SMS in my phone and I could read the first 160 characters.
