Can you add your own words to the front screen of the Sony Ericsson T610. IE, I want to add my name under the words "T-Mobile" (my network). Can this be done - thanks?

Can you edit a theme on the phone itself or do you have to use the Theme Editor software on a PC?

You will have to do it on a pc. Nice idea, i'm gonna do it. I'm selecting one of my fav theme and then extract it and put my name on the wallpaper. This message was posted from a K500

Thanks for your help.

I downloaded and installed the theme editor yesterday and will give it a go sometime!

What's your overall view of the T610?

Funny as I think it's not so hot.
I used a Motorola V525 in Vodafone for a year. Vodafone was awful but the Motorola V525 was an excellent phone for texting and the calendar and reminders.
I find the T610 inadequate for these requirements.
However, the fun things like ringtones and themes are fantastic!

if you read my post on the link above, I wrote a section on why the T610 is NOT as good as it could have been.

Dont get me wrong, it was a decent phone, and its my "second phone". However, when it came out, it was the high end model, and had lots of intresting features:

- bluetooth (FTP, Synch, better conectivity with headsets)
- first small phone with in built camera.
- first 64k Colour screen
- Picture CLI that worked with SMS too
- Adequate PIM features
- POP3/IMAP support
- JAVA/Morphun
- Sleek Metal casing

However, where the T610 was let down was in its limitations in other features, which made some of the above features difficult to use properly:
- 2mb Memory - for a MMS, PictureCLI and camera phone this is ridiculous.
- 320x288 Camera. This is totally useless, except for MMS
- Lack of progressive search on phonebook. (you cant type the first few letters of the name to get the contact. Only the first letter is accepted)
- SLOW Java performance (this was somewhat improved on future firmware, but is not perfect)
- Limited Java support. Not true J2ME. No sound support.
- Slow Interface (again somewhat improved on future firmware)
- Loudspeaker mode (it IS possible, but the feature is not implemented)
- Seperate speaker for tones.
- AMR Ringtones (again should be possible)

The point is, it was a good phone, but considering it was initially created as the T68 replacement, and the new top end, it seemed to have enough strange limitations to make it appear more mid range. Almost as if we are expecting a "better" less crippled phone which "unlocks" those features. ALthough at first it was amazing, I just felt the T610 was crippled, in the same way the T300 was. I just couldnt use all the features of the phoen practically.

I think SE has reached perfection with the K700/S700 (i have a S700)
