Sony cranks out 4 GB Memory Stick Pro

By Jørgen Sundgot, Thursday 6 January 2005

Sony is doubling the capacity of its flash media product line with the introduction of a 4 GB Memory Stick PRO media. To be available in March, the 4 GB stick will sell for approximately $900 USD, according to Sony. In related news, Sony also announced the MSAC-PC4 Memory Stick PC Card Adaptor which supports Memory Stick and Memory Stick PRO formats, due out in February and to sell for approximately $70 USD.

Seriously doubt that any current P series will support that, though...

some people suggested that it is too much for the OS and processor to handle, so i really doin't think so.

I don't see a reason why it won't work. whereas duo was designed with a 128mb limit, the PRO duo is designed with a 32gb limit so unless SE have imposed their own limit in the operating system it really should work, and I don't see why 4gb should be too much for the operating system... its only storage, not program running memory

And why would you want to RAM 4Gb in a P910?? With the amount of money they charging for that Memory my goodness me I would rather but a dedicated player for that..

at $900 it's a bit steep at the moment.

Give it a year or two and i'll have one

well we're only seeing 1gb hit the shelves in the last few weeks and I assume there are 2gb coming out before the 4gb and I can't find anywhere with those even listed yet.

I guess we'll get a load of "where are the cheapest 2gb PRO Duo" threads coming soon

and I guess Sandisk won't be far behind with 4gb at 1/3 or more less than Sony price
