I have already updated my P910i's firmware once. Now I am trying to update it again to the latest software, but just after the window saying "the application will open in a new window..." or something like this, I get a small window saying "Fatal Error". I click OK and I restart the while operation.

Can anybody help? Is there a solution?

Sounds to me like it's a problem with your PC, not a problem with the phone. I suggest you locate & delete the Sony Ericsson update files that are copied to your PC the first time you went onto the update service. Before you do this, check that there isn't an uninstaller first.

After you've done this, launch SE Update Service again, and hopefully it should download the files to your PC. Try and update the phone, and if you still get fatal errors, then i would presume it's a more serious problem, in which case i'd search for SE Update Service variables in the registry and delete them as well. This is all on the assumption that it's not a problem with the phone.

Sounds to me like the application is crashing before it's even communicating with the phone.

You could take the syncstation to a friends house and try it there, see if it works. You only have to do it once in a few months anyway, so it wouldn't really matter where you do it.

Try to do the update via the sonyericsson support site (for me in Germany it would be http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]7&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10183), update service. Then it works perfectly well without fatal error!!!

I agree. I used the UK support site and it worked. Thank you for the help. SE have still not got back to me! BTW I did try the same site last year but it did fail so maybe something was wrong with it.
