Hey. Just got a phat new gaming rig but im finding it hard to install the pc suite. I have the latest one from the SE website, but after installing the little thing in the startbar (black arrow or whatever) only shows bluetooth, infared and COM ports one and two! WHERE IS USB??? i have tried the disc that came with my p800 nothing. and some drivers that arent the latest. how do i get the program (audevicemanager.exe i think it is) to recognize USB?

Try installing some updated USB drivers on your 'rig'.
Install Service Pack 2 if not already installed. If it's not displaying USB, it's not detecting it.
Check that your other USB devices work with it, try different USB ports.
Process of elimination really..

yeah ive got 8 USB port all recognized and installed! for testing i used my PS2 to USB converter in each port and they are fine! windows recognizes the syncstation and everything when i put it into a usb

heres a lil thing i dont get though! as you can see supposedly one of the ports hasnt been properly installed and i think windows thinks the syncstation is an actual port! any that know a bit about hardware can help?
cheers

Here's your problem,
!USB Serial Port
You need to get this installed, as thats the driver which makes the USB option appear in audevicemgr.exe
Find your PC Suite CD, double click the USB Serial Port, and tell it to reinstall the driver. Then it should take the drivers from the CD-ROM and install the port successfully. If not, you've got problems, and it might be that it's conflicting with something. That's not too unlikely either, as it would seem you've already got a fair bit of hardware in that thing.
And as for the spec, you know you just put that there to rub our faces in it

I'm guessing you got it working?
Hows that P4 3.2E treating you? How does it compare to an AMD64Bit mate? I'm considering jumping on the Intel bandwagon soon, giving up on AMD.
Let me know your thoughts on that if you will.
Thanks!

well the pentium is unbelievable! if i were you i would make the switch

AMD 64 is overratted and nothing special! one of my friends got a whole new nforce 4 with a AMD 64 and he was severly dissapointed. My new system was about $600AUD less and delivers better performance. also when i used to use AMD i had a lot of problems with them. AMD also doesnt clock as well in my experiences. the intel's also offer a selection of quality aftermarket mods. With the Thermalright LGA775RM cooling i am running it at 3400mhz! however if you are on a budget get a 3.0ghz. for every 100mhz step up you will gain 2-4 frames per second in a game! also you do know that a AMD 3500+ is actually not 3.5ghz, more liek 2700mhz! any more questions feel free to ask

AMD processors are called 3500+ because they supposedly run at the equivalent of a P4 3500Mhz, even though they have a clock speed of 2700Mhz or whatever it may be. I have an XP2500+ Mobile CPU running at 2400Mhz, and it has a default clock speed of 2Ghz (i think). it's called a 2500+ because AMD claim it runs at the same speed as a 2.5Ghz P4.
I'm getting tired of the performance in Windows with this CPU. I built a new PC for a friend today, which had a P4 3.0E CPU in it, and it was SO quick! Very tempted to ditch my system and get a P4.
Anyone know what the CPU in the Pxx0 series of phones is made by? I think it has an ARM CPU, and if my brain is working right, i think that means it's made by Intel.
I wonder what future processors will be like in mobile phones, and what sort of cooling they're going to need!

you know you wanna spoil yourself

get a 3.0 and clock it a bit! no need to get the 3.6EE l2 2mb cache, as the performance will be hardely noticable! as for the px00 series i would like to know too!
