when you come here and post something like that, you really do need to provide some kind of evidence of where you heard about this "locked Memory" otherwise no one will take you seriously.

I think he may be right but i duno about the 30Mb.
Don't you remember the T68m and the T68i.
When u upgrade ur T68m to T68i, you have 1Mb.
But i am not sure for the K500.

from the forum you mentioned:
"it says phone type k500i total memory 524284 free memory 424430"

what is the unit? Bytes? Kilobytes? How did the author of that thread ever came up with 52 MB or 42MB from those figures?

If those figures are in bytes then that would be 512 KB and 414 KB respectively. If the units are in Kilobytes then It should be 512 MB and 414 MB respectively. Both are obviously ridiculous and erroneous.

there is no 30MB extra memory in K500 (double check that post and exactly what that guy on the other forum wrote how much free memory), and you can not flash K500 with K700 or S700 firmware, same platform , different memory maps. Only K700 works with K500 firmware

Dont know wat those figures are but they dont refer to phone memory. Most of the sony ericsson phones i.e. k500,k700,s700,v800 display the same figures so maybe its somethin to do with se's java implementation.
