In short, no. If your mobile supports themes you could use a theme, which would hide the logo, but as far as I am aware, it isn't possible to remove it.

it is possible using flashing software and a hex editor as I vaguelly recall. there is a thread here by mixin but I'm a tad busy to find it right now so do a search and you might dig it up

Yes. You will load the flash file to the hex editor and then find the name of your service provider. You will then erase a part of the flash file with white spaces. You will then save it and flash it. Very risky. As you will screw up your phone big time. And it was www.cellular-support.com that have the info.
