I have been reading some posts about updating firmware on the K700i. I have found this link on the ericssondevelopers site that will let you download and update the software on your phone providing you have an official sync station, one of which i have in front of me.
Does anyone know if this software available to download will actually give me an actual firmware update?

I'm trying to reinstall my bluetooth connection manager so i can move all my files to my pc i'm wary of trying the update until then incase i lose all my files.

I recently emailed vodafone asking them about using "official" MP3s as my ringtone. Their reply totally proves the DRM packager works, aslong as you have the right version of software. Here it is:

Thank you for your mail.

There is a newer software version available, which will allow you to use DRM (Digital Rights Management – copywriting for digital media) protected MP3's as ringtones.

To upgrade the handset to this version, visit a Vodafone Retail store, who can arrange for the handset to be upgraded.

I trust you will find this information useful. If you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards,

Message: I have just spent money downloading realtones from vodafone live but my sony ericcson k700i will not even let me use
authorised vodafone mp3s as ringtone. i am on firmware version R2N001 which looks like it will let no mp3s apart from embedded ones be used as ringtone/alarm etc. could you advise if there is a newer
firmware available and where i can get it as ive probably spent
around ten pounds on tones that seem useless just now.
thanks

The MP3 lockdown aside, i think this is an awesome phone

Hi there,
I have the same problem after unlocking. The phone just blinks now.
What do i need to do to get it fixed? Do i need to flash it?

Also, I'm not sure whether the phone got unlocked during the process.Do i need to unlock it first and then flash it, or just a flash will do for both?
