Hello all!
I'm trying to use my Nokia 6630 as a Bluetooth modem for my HP iPaq. I have done this in the past with SE phones without any problems but I just can't get it to work with the Nokia 6630 Nokia won't help because they "don't support" PocketPC!!! Any help from you Esato-guys is greatly appreciated. I live in Sweden and I use Tele2 as my mobile operator.

Cheers

I think i can give you an walkthrough on that (this is for wm2003se).

First make sure that you have both the 6630 and the pocket pc, and they are bonded, passcode entered etc.

Now follow these steps carefully :

1. On your pocket pc, click start - settings - connections tab - connections icon.

2. Click on the advanced tab, then on the 'Select Networks' button.

3. Now, on the 'Network Management' screen on the part which says '....connect to the internet using.....' click the 'New' button.

4. Enter the name of your ISP as it asks, then click on the 'Modem' tab.

5. Click 'New' again, and now you should find yourself on the 'Make New Connection' window. Enter the name of your new connection and select 'Bluetooth Dialup Modem' on the list.

6. Press 'Next' , enter '*99#' as the dialing number. Leave username and password blank, and click finish.

7. Select this connection as the default connection.

8. Now on your 6630 make sure that the modem application is running and you have selected 'Connect via Bluetooth' ( This option oy appears if you have bonded with your wm.)

Thats about it.... you can now utilize the wonderfully fast edge and 3g capabilities of your beautiful shiny new 6630!!!¡(I think i overdid the last part )

Hello there m8!
Thanx for your help I've done most of the stuff you mention in your reply except for No. 8, the modem part. Where can I find this modem app. in the Nokia? Can't remember seeing it anywhere!? That's probably the problem because my PocketPC connects to the Nokia but the Nokia won't give me a connection to the Internet.

Mr. Paro, I suggest that you look in the folder called 'Connect', where you will find options for IR and Blutooth.

Hello again m8!
Sorry to be a pain but there is no modem option whatsoever in my phone??? And also...IR?? The phone doesn't have IR!? In the "connections" menu folder I find "Bluetooth", "Connection Manager" ...which is totally empty....and "Sync". Thats all. Am I required to install any special app. to get the "modem"?

I'm really appreciating your help here because it's important for me to get this working.

Mr. Paro, This is very wierd, because, I have just checked, on both; a 6600 and 6670. Inside the connect folder , there reside 3 programs 1) Blutooth Manager 2) Ir and 3) Modem. Maybe I'm mistaken, however I believe that the same options would exist in all Series 60 phones. If, for some reason, you are unable to find these options on your phone, I recommend that the manual for your phone be consulted and you look up how it must be configured as a modem.

Hello Debu!
Talked to Nokia. There is no modem app. in the 6630. It should all be handled by the PC driver they say. Unfortunately there is no driver for PocketPC (Windows Mobile 2003) since Nokia don't support PocketPC. So I guess it's impossible then!? Thanks anyway for all your help.

just on this point - some carriers need content in the username and password fields - most don't check it. I use "gprs" for both and works fine.
I use a 6630 and ipaq 5550

Turns out there was an option under "packet data" that I didn't know about :-/ ...and Nokia has been VERY unhelpful Will probably go back to SE soon!

Thanks for all your help!
