Two families have withdrawn their children from a school because of fears over a mobile phone mast.

One mother feels so strongly about the issue she has moved them from a Catholic school to a school of different religion, saying her children's health matters more to her than their faith, "We have had to compromise their faith because of the masts."

Another mother saw her fears confirmed when she took a microwave monitor into the playground before and after the mast was switched on. "It was silent the first time but the second time it was buzzing really loudly," she said. "We felt we didn't have any choice but to move the boys."

According to a Standard report, schools in some parts of central London have as many as 80 masts built or planned nearby. A quarter of primary school children are believed to own a mobile, while 90 per cent of 11 to 16-year-olds have one.

Apparantly radiation tests have shown that children are much more inclined to get brain tumours through mobile phone radiation.

May be the radiation will give life to those dead brain cells. I dont get them, they allows kids to use phones, need good coverage, and cant live with a mast near by? A standard transformer or a high tension line gives out radiation too. What about that? This message was posted from a K500

The media has a lot to blame for this propaganda that if you live near a mast, your child will develop a brain tumor, however, your more likely to develop cancer from other carcinigens in food and surroundings.
What they don't tell you is that the mast emits less radiation than the mobile phones it supports............

Its not really propaganda...tests have been done over a period of years with actual brain scans of children and it has conclusively shown that children under the age of 8 are much susceptible to radiation...
One brand of childrens mobiles in the u.k has been withdrawn by the manufacturer due to this evidence...i mean the they did'nt even try to defend the claim..maybe they know something?

I think if you are really going to let children use mobiles the make sure they only use them for texting and not voice calls..just to be on the safe side,its too much of a risk imo.

@axxr

Mate, if your gonna do that, then better whip out the old e-mail or better still the no-risk pen and paper...... Just texting kind of defeats the object of the MOBILE TELEPHONE...

@axxxr I doubt they would just use them for texting, if you realise how a child acts, the more restricted they are, the more they'd like to do it.

I did'nt mean to suggest that we stop useing mobiles ..I am to emphasise again the Only Children under the age of 8 need to have restricted use of mobiles..Apparantly anyone over the of 8 is far less susceptible.
