Every time I put my phone in the cradle to sync Outlook pops up a security box for which I have to allow the phone to sync, does anyone know how to setup the sync'ing so this doesn't happen?

Annoying as I agree this prompt is, it is there for an incredibly good reason.

Unfortunately that reason is that M$ Outlook is, historically, the most insecure Email program ever.

This halfhearted and halfwitted fix was put iin place after viruses found out how to pick up Outlooks address book and send mail to these people.

Given that M$ circumvented their own security when they developed activesync, I would like to see them grant other credible companies this access. Having to click yes is a pain in the a$$ - surely Sony Ericsson can be trusted??

Hi.. does anyone know how to copy the contacts.cdb file from PC to the phone (P910i)? After reformatting the phone, I tried to copy the file from PC to phone so that I wouldn't need to sync with Outlook again. However, it didn't allow me to, perhaps because the file was in use. I closed the contacts program with Sman, hoping that would help.. but no go? Can anyone help??

Thanks a pile, Masseur! That was a huge help. By the way, there's a utility here called Backup Inspector: http://afsoftware.s5.com/bi/index_eng.htm. Ever tried it?

The security box is hard coded (I think) into Outlook 2003 to help warn for viruses trying to access the address book. It is activated when an external program tries to access the address book and read an email address from a contact.
