I'm demoing Smartmovie at the moment and have a few questions that I can't find answers to. I'd welcome your help.
1. Smartmovie player will play AVI files. What is the point in then using Smartmovie converter if DVDx already can rip to a correctly sized AVI file? Does SM do something else that is required?
2. When using DVDx to rip a DVD to AVI, do I need to worry about the various AVI settings and resolution/zoom etc or should I just use the defaults and let SM do the work in the next step?
3. If I am using SM converter to produce and AVI for my P910i, is there any advantage to ripping to AVI rather than say MPEG1 and then using SM converter to do the work?

2. why bother converting to avi to start with.........just get the vob direct show filter, then you can convert with smartmovie straight from the VOB files (may have to de-crypt them still though, i use dvd-decrypter)
3. dont quite understand what you mean? if you are talking about using sm converter or using other proggy's such as virtualdub etc etc........well, as far as i know, you COULD use other programs, but as logn as the resolution is not too high. this is why i reccommend using sm cos it converts it all for you, you dont have to mess around with any settigns too mcuh cos its all there.

I didn't realise it could convert direct from VOB files. The Smartmovie website doesn't mention that - it tells you to use DVDx or similar. I'll check out that codec.

they should give you the code for the PLAYER only............then to get the code for the CONVERTER, you need to unlock the oplayer first then choose the option "unlock converter" in the menu or seomthign liek that
if in doubt, email their customer support

@VieloAiposh Do you have a link to the VOB directshow codec? I have the latest version of FFDShow but after decryping using DVD Decrypt when I try opening the VOB in smartmovie it says I dont have the right codecs.
