> Help Install OSX Tiger
Bookmark topic
Ok I need some help, I got the Tiger Image (yes it genuine and paid for), but I lost followed the details about making a bootable OSX image and I am having no joy. If any Mac gurus who have managed to get this up and running, would appreciate your help.

It can't possibly be "genuine and paid for" because Tiger isn't released yet! It's not due out until later this year - Q2...
Apple have recently sued some developers for putting a beta version on some file sharing network...
Even if you manage to get this disk image working, it's not final release quality software so could mess up things!!

@JoolsG4 Yes it is genuine, I paid 500$ for the developers fee... and I didnt say its the final release I just asked for help and not your remarks...
I have been using Windows Whistler for a few days now and thats going to be very good once its released. Very cool interface..it does chew cpu but then thats what you get with Beta versions.

I am not a Mac guru, mind you, but i think you will have to burn it on a Mac, or perhaps using some raw-write burning app under Windows, like CloneCD. I have used CloneCD to make images of both OS9 and OSX.
Not much help maybe, but hey.. i tried

@fatreg
IMO Linux is not *yet* an alternative for a desktop OS..
Maybe someday, but not now.
Oh, if you only run office applications and donīt mind not being able to run de facto standard applications like
Adobe Photoshop, Indesign
Macromedia Dreamweaver, Flash etc etc. and isnīt bothered by the fact that you canīt try some cool game every now and then, you may well be quite happy

Sure did, still have them. Come to think of it, i copied Jaguar using CloneCD too and used the burnt CDīs to install my iMac at home.
EDIT: I burned Panther on the Mac using toast, so i know that *obviously maybe* works too

Remarks? This is a public discussion forum!!!!
Anyway, in order to help I'd need bit more information... i.e.
What format is the disk image in? .dmg .toast. .iso
What build is the version you have?
What Mac model are you trying to install onto? What's on it already?
What CD/DVD burning software are you trying to use?
What exactly do the instructions say?
You can burn DVDs in both Toast and Apple's Disk Utility... if it's in .dmg format you can use Apple Disk Utility, if its in .toast format use Toast.
But it may not be necessary as most developer versions of Tiger can be installed directly from the disk image, but the disk image has to be stored and mounted on another drive to the one you are installing on (i.e. an external Firewire drive).
Try the following:
1. Create two partitions, one with 10.3 installed and the other partition left empty.
2. Boot into 10.3 partition and locate the 10.4 disk image.
3. After mounting the image, navigate to /System/Installation/Packages
and Run the OSInstall.mpkg'
4. Reboot and hold down Option/Alt.
5. Select the OS 10.4 partition.
6. Reboot and go through the welcome & set-up.
If that doesn't work, try logging into your developer account at the
Apple Developer Connection site, there's bound to be additional support there...
