Hello all

I have just bought a 128 MB memorycard for my P900 - and therefore it's time to fill it up with music and movies etc...

I've searched and found someone talking about a format called OGG - but what is that...?¿?
How can I play these files on my p900 - and how do I convert MP3s to this format...?

I would very much like a link to some programs (if these are nessesary...)

Hi, I use oggplay - nice tidy player and its free! To convert my music to ogg format I use the PC program mediamonkey - download the free version. I find that ogg @ 64k is an excellent compromise of size vs quality. See what you thinks moonpie.

Yeah, I've found that OGG is better than AAC generally speaking. So if you use the above links and set it to 64kbps (about the same quality as a 128kbps mp3) you should be able to get quite a few songs on there.

I can get 8-9 on my 16mb card, so that's about 72 songs on a 128mb one. Or around there anyways. Thats a bit more than 3 cds, so I guess that's worth it.

I understand you lose some quality if you do the conversion from MP3. Best to convert from your audio CD, I think. This message was posted from a P800

Converting from mp3 to ogg is bad news. Quality loss definitely. I recommend a straight CD conversion.

But does a ogg player still have this bad future that a song can not be played from memorycard, but only from phone memory?t

@markobb: No, it plays fine from the memory stick.
I know what you guys are saying about losing quality from Mp3 -> OGG. Try MP3 -> AAC in iTunes. I, for one, can't notice a difference (well, ok, a little one, but far smaller than OGG).
OGG, I'm afraid, will never be a viable alternative. With free formats like AAC out, and with their huge backing compared to that of OGG, there will soon be no more OGG I'm afraid...
