Oke finally(i couldnt any info on this by usin search) i managed to find a bit bout the new se's internal specs, the new se's i'm referrin to are kxxx,fxxx,sxxx,v800 and z500. All these phones are powered by 32bit processors clocked at 100mhz or higher(i dont have exact values). How powerful is this?? Well 10 years ago desktop computer were slower
but comparin it to nokia smartphones like 6600(104mhz) and 7610(120mhz) these are much more powerful coz they have equal/better processors without havin to allocate resources to symbian platform. Now this explains why all these se phones are soooo fast compared to nokias/most other phones
Apart from that the huge internal memories means lots of ram+se has really provided great hardware resources for java...way to go se. To find out how power packed the micro3d implementation in these phones is go here

@Clank : What you are talking about is the processor which powers the RTOS (In the non-smartphone models). For using Micro3d Java, there is a seperate chip in the phones. I'm sure if you read the Micro3D whitepaper you would be able to point it out.

I think SE phones are very slow... don't get me wrong here, I had high hopes for the V800. The T610 is soooo slow and the K700 is slugish at best. But with the V800 it is a bit better, but still slow. Now take the 6630 it has a higher gprs class and a 220mhz processor. I haven't seen any phone faster than that!

T610/630 are obviously sloooow phones but i feel k5 and k7(with r2ae) are quite fast. I never experience any hangups/slowdowns with my k7 except when checkin memory status where it takes a couple of seconds and i'm talkin bout a phone with only 1134kb free memory left. On the other hand i've played around with my mates' 6600 and motoe398(both loaded with decent amount of software) and they were very slow. As for the 7610 i've read in multiple reviews that its a sluggish phone. Wat i was most surprised bout was that a k5 has better processor than the expensive 6600...

I think we should not compare non-smartphone models with smartphones, so the comparison with the 6630 is uncalled for. Speed of a phone doesnt depend on the processor, but it depends on how well the code of the shell runs on the phone. The k700 i believe has an arm10 processor, these are the latest generation of processors, similar technology is used on the intel XScales. Also, since this is the 3rd generation of this shell (t68 shell was the 1st generation and t610 was the second) one should expect a highly evolved code, an very optimised for speed.
My pda2k runs a 400mhz processor and has 128mb of ram, yet when i'm surfing the net and listning to music simultaneously i hear breaks in the music occasionally, so, does it mean that the processing capacity is less? I dont think so.

Clock speed means very little there days, its how wise and well the resources are used ,allocated and how well the software is written and how well the sw works on the platform .as some1else said in one me the previous posts .
