It has often been said by many experts and people (including on mobileburn.com) that Sony Ericsson handsets generally have poor reception quality then compared with most other handsets. This has been the case ever seince it has in built antennas. K700i was a good improvement but most of them generally suffer from poor reception quality.

Sony remains IMO, the best phones around in terms of built quality and phone features but in terms of reception quality of the handsets, genrally speaking they are way too behind then compared with other brands like Nokia. (Nokia have the best in my opinion)

I never understand why SE dont sort this out

My phone has excellent reception. Even where a nokia 6600 was struggling to keep up! But yes the voice clarity has to improve. This message was posted from a T230

T28, T610, T630, Z1010 are just a few that suffer from this problem

The T230 & Z600 are some SEs with good reception quality. Dont know why SE is that inconsistent in this area. BTW, I bet Sagem would have dallug rethink that bit about Nokia having best reception. Theyve stood out there for ages :-) This message was posted from a P800

@govigov: Its an "industry fact". I have seen Sagems hold a call where Nokia, Moto & SE couldnt register on the same network. Same spot. Alcatels too hold a signal well. Is it a French thing? This message was posted from a P800

it is often something i find with se phones the simlpe things are often over looked. there phones do many great things and are often feature packed but they do need to do the simple things better as these are often the first impressions for new buyers, there reciption quality is variable through the handset range and simple little bugs are always there ie k700 phonebook problem the one where someone dails you and a diff number shows up.
not a huge problem and one they fixed but one which should have been noticed on a first test not really hard to notice is it if you test a handset.
having said that all phone makers do this and it is a little shoddy for me
