I'm having a problem on my P900 where the notification window and sound don't play/appear when I receive an sms even though it's set to in the control panel (it used to work). when I do a master reset, it will work again but when I restore my phone it won't work again. I've uninstalled all the user installed apps and still no luck.
Does anyone know what could be wrong??

I don't know if its the same with me, but on my p800 I sometimes have to send an sms or make a call or retrieve my balance for the sms to register. I don't know why. Its kind of annoying, 'cause I often ask questions in a text that I send, only to recieve answers within 5 seconds of sending it (as the answers were sent before i wrote the questions).
I had it pinned on old p800 firmware, but maybe its something different?

I had a similar problem. This all started when I installed some of new downloaded themes…… As I was experimenting things with those new themes, trying to give some default ring tones of my choice which automatically loads up each time I apply some theme…… In process of doing so I messed up with some files but fortunately I had taken back up of those files and reinstalled them to their original location…. Its after that my phone P910 gave up and didn’t respond with any ring tone either on incoming phone or on sms…..
The simple work around that I did was uninstalled all themes and then installed one theme that I knew is okay and worked …………. Then I reapplied that theme and restarted my phone which started working….
Based on experience I believe that some installed application might be causing some problem which only you can identify. After master reset try reinstalling the user software’s again. After each installation try checking which software is mingling with the ring tones……

Thanks, that's what I figured.
I was just hoping maybe I wouldn't have to do that.
thanks again

I had this problem on my P900 also but found I had to turn the phone off and back on again for the tones/notification icon to start working again - it would then last a day or two, and then go back to not working! Very annoying! I didn't have any themes or anything installed however. I did have quite a lot of apps installed but not theme apps.
I never did resolve the problem (just got a P910!) so I guess I'm not much help here! But just to say that perhaps its not necessarily the themes.

That’s what i want to point out.... It may not necessary be themes.... I in my earlier post I mentioned "applications"
Though I faced problem due to themes, but the route cause were the files that got installed and somehow messed with my default ring tones….. This messing around can be achieved by any installed application, that’s what has to be figured out…. Sometimes some software’s are required to be loaded in main drive then into memory card and for such software’s if installed in memory card, though may seem to work but might cause irritable problems.
