> Save more space on K700i
Bookmark topic
Due to the 41MB space limitation in k700i, I always try to make all the files (pictures, audio, video) that I upload to the phone, smaller.
To make a video file smaller, I first import it to windows xp movie maker change the file size to 500KB and save it. Then I import it to mpegable X4 live and use this guide here
http://www.aristos.net/3gp/ (Spawn wrote it I just made a backup of the guide on that site) to convert the file to 3gp. mpegable X4 live most of the times makes the file bigger than 500kb, but I don’t know how to make it remain on the 500kb it was when I import it.
For audio files, I just convert mp3 to mp4. There’s no noticeable loss of quality and the mp3 becomes half the size it was. To convert a file from mp3 to mp4 I use Nero burning rom. There’s an option under “Extras” that says “Encode Files”
For pictures, I use the jpg format, and I resize the picture to 176x176 in ACDSee, always constraining proportions.
Until today, I have:
30 pictures taking up 474kb
25mp4 songs taking up 19MB
10 3gp video files taking up 6.3MB
And now my question:
Is there a way to make these files even smaller, without loosing considerable quality, so that I can save more space on my mobile phone?

I'm surprised you're able to put 25mp4s at 19MB - are they short songs only? I have 18 complete mp4s (hip-hop) and a lot of mp3 ringtones -- total 31MB.
The only thing I can add is: use higher compression setting on your jpeg files. I normally use 160x120 jpegs at 50% quality setting for my contact pics -- it now totals 650KB. I don't keep videos, instead I have about 7MB worth of Java games. I always keep about 1MB free for emergency pics.

ok, i just found a few more settings in nero encoder.
I changed the AAC profile to low complexity, I changed the encoder quality to fast, and the constant bit rate to 32kbit/s
After encoding, a 3.34MB mp3 became 873kb...and it sounds good.
Is there something i can do to make it even smaller?
Any ideas?

I used to experiment on mp4 settings too but when I go down below 56Kbps mono, I always get those wierd sounds like high-pitched turkeys. So I stick with 56Kbps mono mp4s.

I use Nero 6.6.0.1. ultra edition. Just open nero, and press F8. The encoder should open.
