hi all,

i'm having trouble with my p900, (and currently having to use the other half's old winnie the pooh Nokia 3310...

problems like this. i left my p900 overnight in the glove box of my car, and when i came to it the next morning it had switched off, and there was a little water/damp on the bottom right of the screen/top of flip (flip was closed, no screen protector BTW.) it didn't look like anything sinister.

when i came to turn it on however, the touch screen has stopped responding (although the screen itself works and shows no sign of damage. the keypad has also stopped responding although it lights up and is clearly getting power. the jog dial still works. very useful.

the other thing is the button which detects the flip being opened and closed still works, although it's in the same area on the pcb as the flip contacts (if that makes sense to anyone)

in a vain attempt to get my phone working, i updated it using SEUS, big mistake because now it's just stuck on the setup wizard screen and the touch screen still not responding.

before i shell silly money on new parts, i just want to know whether this could be a fixable problem, i.e. a bit of damp has seperated two contacts that stick together.

or is my p900 well and truley up the creek?
if so any recommendations where i can get a cheap screen from? (lowest i've found is 60 quid.

ta all.

Take it to your nearest SE service center. They will do the required. I think they'll charge a nominal amount if your phones out of warranty cover. This message was posted from a T230

My feelings exactly. There has been 2 dedicated threads in last couple of days on the same problem. This message was posted from a K500

exactly how much is this service going to cost? i got the phone second hand, so i'm pretty sure it'll be out of warranty.

That differs from country to country. You got any card with the telephone numbers of the service centers? Where are you from? This message was posted from a T230

In the UK? Then why don't you post your query in the UK thread? The members there would be able to help you out. I am on wap so can't provide you the link. Its in the Regional Forums section. This message was posted from a T230

there is no need to post in the UK thread. this is the correct forum for such discussion.

the UK SE support is on 08705 237 237. they will tell you where to send it etc

ok, cheap and easy attempts first.....
take out the battery and sim and just leave the phone itself on a towel on top of a radiator for a day or two.
if that dont work a service centre is your only other option.
your nearest is the carphone warehouse. i know there are two in leeds i think its the one on briggate(?). its the massive one and the centres upstairs. just dont expect them to know what theyre talking about. i met a right fool last time i was there!
