Okay my pc is a decrepit old beast (athlon 900) thats now completely dead. Ive never used a mac, can someone give me reasonable, viable reasons as to why i should buy one, instead of buying a laptop or building a new pc? What makes a mac great? Im a gamer first and foremost, and i need swift net access. Also im a keen music fan would i be able to plug my current Creative sound system into a mac, if not is there a top of the range speaker system available...that is a key point.

Q. Are you into CAD/Graphic Design editing?
Q. Are you still in full time education?
Q. Would you buy an Audi A2 just because you only access the Windscreen Washer fluid, Engine Coolant and Oil ie no access to Engine?
Q. Do you wear your hat at a jaunty angle?

If the answer is Yes to ALL of the above then you’re a mac man!

Hmmm i would find it hard to move away from pc, but macs seem to be on the rise. I dont know anyone with one that i could play around with. Im very hands-on with my pc, i like to tinker. I take it macs dont offer the same flexibility which would be a major turn-off

Macs are for people who simply want to use a computer PCs are for people who know how a computer works.

Certains Macs can only be upgraded by being sent to a factory which can be a long wait.

What do you want to do with your computer and how much are you going to spend

Actually.. no.
What makes a mac great?
Photoshop/media wizards seem to prefer Mac, why i donīt know, except Photoshop was originally made for Mac and perhaps works best on one
Im a gamer first and foremost, and i need swift net access.
Does the thought of not being able to borrow, copy *erm* or borrow the latest cool games bother you? If yes, stick to PC, point no2 is really no different on Mac vs PC
Also im a keen music fan would i be able to plug my current Creative sound system into a mac, if not is there a top of the range speaker system available...that is a key point.
Dunno about the Creative tackle. There are awesome sound systems for Mac out there though, but i do really think youīll be a lot happier with a PC.

Yeah, stick to pc's. Oh also check out 'in dash mini mac' thread. I've given more reasons for not buying a mac. Though axxxr is a big mac fan ;-) .maybe he can tell ya why you SHOULD buy a mac. And remember sarah jessica parker uses a mac in sex and the city. ;-) thats the mac demographic! This message was posted from a T630

Please note that i have nothing against Macīs per se, itīs just obvious to me that you are not going to be that happy with one, i feel
I use Mac. Unix and Windows daily, and to me itīs more or less like using three different phones.. well ok, the Unix do sometimes require hectic searching in the 3 lbs manual
But at my work (university) i donīt pay for any software myself, and i donīt play games. That makes a lot of difference i think
