Having dilemma whether to buy IR or Bluetooth dongle.. I’ve read many problems with BT and winxp sp2… I don’t mind the cost, but I just don’t want to buy something and end up not working ..does IR also have these problems with winxp?? Also, is there any restrictions with the use of IR.. my friend told me his phone automatically shuts IR after 10mins. Is that a phone locked to a provider problem, b/c my phone is unlocked.

Get a bt dongle. Ir is a pain in the ass. You will have to keep it in front of the port and not move it. Bt can have a range of 10m, but ir is hardly a metre. Plus bt is faster. Given a choice go for bt. This message was posted from a K500

I agree, I bought a USB-IR adapter and regretted it. It's slow, inconvenient and has a short range.

With bluetooth you can position your phone anyway you want as long as it is within the 10m radius, it's faster and there are a lot of RC applications that support it. Don't worry yourself too much about the incompatibilities with some OS because there is always a known fix and/or workaround.
