> How is SE doing in your country?

In my country many brands have emerged and made a good sales. Number one is (hell, who else) Nokia, followed tightly with Sony Ericsson and Samsung (both claimed as number two- god knows). The third is Motorola. The rest is joke.
Based on my simple surveillance there are other brands seek 'niche' market here : Alcatel, Philips, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, LG, Sharp, etc. Some brands from China : Haier, Curitel, Modotel, etc.
95% cellphones here come unbranded. Only one operator (as far as i know) have contract billing system here. So we have opportunity to try the maximum ability of the phone without operator-caused limitation. On contrary, some phones that made specifically for operator usually dont showed up here, for example SE V800. Even Black T630 came late here.
There is other kind of cellphone who called 'black market'- it is priced cheaper, usually came from branded unlocked cellphone abroad. You can see the operator logos printed in the case. Mostly Orange, T Mobile and Verizon - in various type of cellphones. Sometimes i wondering how it feels to use a branded system.....
It seem that Sony Ericsson has gained significant market share lately. The drop off is at the time T68 came out until the beginning era of T610. T610 afterwards SE has rise slowly but sure from its fallen.
T610 is the really beginning rise of SE. This type sold unexpectedly high. Even now when its price dropped that much, many people still prefer to buy it (brand new T610 sold cheaper than brand new K500).
The most talkabout new type here is K700 currently. The only obstacle K700 have is lack of memory expandability. People here sssooooo Nokia minded that if they see some types that doesnt have memory card slot they refuse to buy. They prefer Nokia for that, especially N3660, N6600, N6230 and (believe it or not) NGage. Phew, its quite noisy here.
S700 has some fanatic fans (including me), but not as significant as K700. Competition comes from N7610 and N6630.
Pxx generally have a good market share, P800 already mainstream, followed with P900 soon. P910 face similar fate with S700 (maybe because its a brand new). P910 have strong competition from Nokia 9500 and Pocket PC Phone Ed (XDA O2 and Ipaq are strong brands here).
T230 and T100 are also best seller here. They have significant contribution of SE's sales i think. Nowadays i see K500 will have significant upway trend in the next months. SE lowest segment have serious competition from many Nokia's low ends.
As general, in my country, 2005 i think will be the era of megapixel cameraphones. 2004 is the year of color screen, camera phones and symbian phones (a bit annoyed with the glory of symbian s60 series...). MMS usage level is very low. EDGE will begin in 2005 (planned that way but who knows). Push to talk is an unknown state. I think GPRS phone will be survived for next couple of years.
3G? Blah, what is that thing.....???

is gaining market control here, i expect by the end of this year, they would have gotten ahead of Nokia.

ahh when will they wisen up a bit.
ive managed to convert my mum to the good side of the force but my dads still stuck in the panasonic G series and my sister looks at my phone and goes crosseyed.

SE is losing it grip here because its too expensive and there not much of an option..

nokia and samsung have about 30% marketshare each. SE has got about 15%

Mostly SE phones are used by men. Women prefer Nokias. Mostly die hard SE fans here use SE's -well known- bluetooth and IrDA connectivity and usually have a PDA, laptop or a kind. It is based from my personal experience though.
Most of us miss the blinking LED features though.....
Oh btw, SE donated few satellite phones (R190), few hundreds cellphones (i think is K500) and a mobile base station to Tsunami Victims Recovery Program in Aceh, one of our misfortunate province exposed to this terrible devastation.

Here in Nigeria, Nokia is the most poipular brand. And I think Samsung comes next.
phones are quite popular as well, but not on the level of the first two.
