I have encoded a movie at something like 250kbps or whatever it was.

It looks great, really clear and crisp however in full screen mode it wont play smoothly, its jumpy. The image stays clear, it just wont play with smooth frame transitions.

So is it "too big" or too much for it too handle at that sort of quality? I use the standard video playback app on my P910.

Oh, restart and closing apps in Sman didnt help either.

Sadly, that is an issue with th pxxx's, in my old p800, if i tried to open a vid larger then 100 mb, it would take forever to open, play jerky and crash in the full screen.

The file is 161MB. So you think that could be the issue??

I hope not, it would be another balck mark for SE if you can buy all these huge memory cards and then not be able to playback the files you specifically buy the card to accomodate!

I see from your avatar, that you own a p910i, assuming that to be the case, i think that really made a mistake. BTW, have you tried using some other application to play the file?

Not really. I am a big fan of freeware it has to be said. I paid nothing for the phone and never intended to buy loads of software for it. I'd use a free app but am not that keen to pay for it. Pikey arent I.

I have tried 350kbps and it works fine on the p910i.

Picture quality is smooth and crystal clear.

However, the Video size inceases rapidly.

@PeterKay

At that setting (350kbps), which seems huge to me, what were your others settings?

What program did you use to do the encoding?

And how big was the file you played back at 350kbps?

Thanks.

I use Mpegable Broadcaster to encode my videos.

The file was first converted to 296 x 196 using virtualdub.

The settings i use for converting to mp4 are:

Video encoding

Video bitrate 350kbits
Video codec Iso mpeg4(mpegable)
Smooth motion
High quality
Constant bitrate
Keyframe period 100

Audio encoding

Audio bitrate 64k/bits
Audio codec mpeg4 aac
Channels stereo
Sample rate 22050

Video processing

Target framerate user defined 8hz
Deinterlacing automatic

Interoperability

mpeg4 simple profile
Audio profile aac

And the resultant file size?

And do you find that if you don't first use Virtual Dub to reduce dimensions that you get poor MP4 video quality?

Thanks.

A video that is 25 minutes long, is now 50mb in the above quality settings. Obviously you can lower the size by playing with the settings.

Yes, the quality will be poorer if the video is not set to 296 x 196 using Virtualdub.

Any questions, feel free to ask.
