Hi,
I am a reasonably competent P910i user and use most of the functions actively but I am really stumped on this problem;
The scenario
yesterday my phone was working perfectly then at 08.30 the phone didnt allow me to make or receive calls - I found out it had been barred by the service provider vodafone, I spoke to them and it appeared to be an accounts error.
The phone was immediately unbarred, however since this time I have not been able to make or receive calls on this handset i still ge the "number unobtainable tone" when I try to make calls and similarly when someone tries to call me they get the same tone.
If I put the simcard into another handset (T68) it works fine !
On my P910i I can use GPRS and send and receive text msgs just cannot make or receive calls, I have spoken to the network provider (Vodafone) for hours today and they assure me there is no bar on my phone which I believe as it works in T68.
They did suggest changing the setting in the "restrict calls" option which I have now done many times with the correct password, still does not work.
(I am now a little unsure what the correct settings should be, although it doesn't work with either YES or NO set)
Can anyone help or suggest anything else I could try
Many Thanks

Not being funny, but Vodafone call centre staff (here in the uk anyway), are a bunch of thick morons.
I wouldnt be surprised if they had blocked your IMEI from transmission, as would be done in the case of a theft.
It may sound simple but do not presume they have checked this.
Allow me to share a quick example.
I upgraded from whatever I had to my P900 last year. I used MMS loads and used to have clear unrestricted access to MMS services. When I upgraded, the Voda muppets for some reason cut off my MMS use at account level. So I called up and asked why I couldnt send/receive MMS's. I was ASSURED that the service was on my phone. "we really dont know sir, must be your settings" over and over again.
At the time I was trying to get a ringtone sent to my phone by a company and was blaming the company for this problem as Voda assured me I was good to go.
So weeks literally went by with no access to MMS. I called Voda again and told them to shut up and sort this the hell out. In fact, no i didnt, I called the actual network, not my provider! They actual Tech Help people at Voda Ltd, not Vodafone Connect or Retail or however they're known now, but the actual network, they told me that my account was showing "previous status" but the actual single box that they need to tick to activate my MMS was sat there clear as day unticked so I was basically a "non subscriber".
I called a thousand times mate, I asked them all to check and they all said it must be my phone when all along the thick c*nts were looking at my account status prior to upgrade.
They're idiots mate i tell you and it wouldnt surprise me one bit if they have blocked your IMEI and released just the SIM.
Could it be that someone pranked you and reported the phone nicked? I dunno, maybe its just an error.
I guess the way to test is put someone elses SIM in your phone, ensure compatability first, and try to use their sim. If it works then my theory is utter rubbish and ignore me (which it probably is!), but if you cant call out of it, you may have your answer!
Anything to sound off about Voda!
Plus I dont think a phone just changes its settings on its own. If they are telling you to change your settings... ask why!? They worked fine earlier in the day... why not now?
If they have f*cked up again mate, demand compensation. Months free line rental should be to far wrong!
Good luck.

I have a strong feeling it might be Voda. Anyway, try doing a reset as Govi said.

I would sure as hell say the network has black listed your IMEI, if your SIM works in another phone, just not in the Pxxx.
Call the network and ask them to check your IMEI against the blacklist rater (All Networks in the EU Have access to this)
I've heard of this problem and saw it happen many times, usually comes from the most stupid thing, usually the operator typing in the IMEI manually, and mistyped not checking.
Well worth calling and checking that the IMEI is not blacklisted.

When you called up about the problem and got the SIM unblocked they would probably have no idea of the IMEI of the phone that the blocked SIM was in. You now need to tackle the phone blocking. No amount of resetting or fiddling with options will fix it your self.
Good luck and keep us informed with how you get on.

I dont know how you contact Voda directly other than via your phone dialling 191, which you proabably cant do.
Call your provider and ask them how you contact Vodafone THE NETWORK via a landline. Its something like 07836 191191 or used to be...

Your phone imei has definately been blocked by the networks. Did you get the phone from a phone shop or did you buy it second hand. If you got it secondhand then it has been reported stolen by the previous owner. If you bought it new then contact your service provide, the number will be on your phone bill, and get them to replace the handset.
