> k500i battery problems

I have recently purchased an SE k500i, and had a problem a few weeks ago with the phone book. I have now sorted that problem, but another unrelated problem has popped up. When I plug my phone in to charge, when it is turned on it comes up with a message saying "Charging, alien battery", and when it is turned off the screen lights up, an hour-glass symbol appears and then it turns off again. It is the same battery that came with the phone and I have only taken it off a few times. Also when charging this "alien" battery, the charge process is different; the battery bar only changes from being half full to being full, instead of showing the full motion of the battery charging up as it normally would. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Alien batteries are always slowly charged hence the charging to half. Remove batt, then put it in again after some time.

This problem has occured more than once. The first time this happened I took the battery off overnight and put it on again in the morning, and it was fine. This time I tried the same, and it didn't make any difference. I'll try it again tonight and see if that makes a difference. Do you know what "alien battery" means? Is it that the phone thinks its a battery that shouldn't be there. And also, do you know if it is a common problem.

Its not a common problem i think, alien battery are batteries manufactured by other companies for the same phone ie. non SE batteries
If nothing works, Take the phone back to where you bought it and show them the problem, and ask them to replace the battery or the handset whichever is faulty

Ok. If it doesn't work after I've taken the battery off I'll take it back and see if they can shed any light on it. Should I run it flat before I take the battery off, or leave it with some charge?

Are your batt contacts dirty? Dont run flat in my opinion. If that doesnt work, put the batt in the freezer for a few hours.
