Hi.
I was wondering if there is a way I can access the world from my P910 other than GPRS (or GSM) when connected to my PC i.e. can I browse web/wap pages on my phone, download emails etc using my broadband connection?

I just saw in a topic about MSN somebody mention something called 'passthru'(?) and figgured this might be the sort of thing I am looking for.

Further to that. If there is such a thing, any guidance about using it through a bluetooth connection would be great as well.

Hi !

I have a XDA from work as well as my personal P910i, the XDA can use passthru with no problems, but i've tried ~EVERYTHING~ to try and get my P910i to work in the same way, SyncStation, Bluetooth but it appears not to work.

I contacted SE about it, explained what i was hoping to do, and they're said it wouldn't be possible, but it was something that should be looked at in the future.

Hi,

install the OPera bowser, it allows you to use your PCs internet connection (for free) using the cradle or bluetooth (and IR pressumable, but ive not tried).

The built in browser does NOT allow this!

As for checking emails via passthru, the only way i think is via a webmail. (but opera allows access to hotmail and gmail etc)

you dont have to configure opera to do this - it just does it! magic

Hope that helps

Jon

come on jon there must be more to it than that! for instance when you start opera it connects to the net through gprs or gsm it does not look for a pc. a full sticky explanation on this would be great as i have also searched and no one has come up with a step by step guide.

You need to set up a bluetooth serial port connection between your phone and PC. It will allowed you to use your PC DSL/LAN internet connection. Like Jon said, you need Opera browser, your internal browser will not work.
Tutorial on how to set it up.

or you can put your Pxxx in the sync station with it hook up to PC and do same thing (except you are connnected with a wire).

Huge thanks for that.

The site was very helpful if a little out of date.
I might even go si far as to write an up to date version now that I have it working.

Thanks again.

Now there is a way!
Thanks to forum members jago25_98 and wiggs for mentioning an app called GnuBox.
I already tried it with a P910i and it worked flawlessly. I could download emails by using bluetooth connection to my Windows PC (works on Linux too). I could also browse the net on P910i with the SE's built in/internal browser.
