Hi,

This is my first post, so if i'm asking an obvious question I apologise!

I sold my P900 on Ebay last week. The buyer recieved it yesterday, but has said he can't get it working with his sim. The phone is network locked to Orange, and he has tried a few different Orange SIM cards, but they all have the same behaviour.

I did a master reset on the phone before I sold it, so now when it starts up it shows the screen detailing flight mode and normal mode. The guy that's bought it said it starts up and shows this screen, but when he chooses 'normal mode', instead of the phone booting into the OS, it resets.

He's tried a couple of SIMS, but they all do the same thing. I know the phone works correctly, but I can't offer him a solution - so I'm having to refund him.

Does anyone know why this is happening? I need to know why and what I can do about it before I relist the phone on Ebay.

All suggestions appreciated!

Craig.

Did you put a sim lock on it? If you did, only your sim card will work with that phone. (It could be Orange put a sim lock on it when you got it). Just my opinion, hope that help.

Firstly : Welcome to Esato !!

I think its most probable that orange put a SIM lock on your phone before sending it to you.

Do check the lock status and tell us. This message was posted from a K500

Sorry about the late reply to this - I had the phone back and I haven't done anything with it till now. I'd like to start using it, because to be honest, in comparison the SPV C500 i replaced it with is a bit crap.

How do I find out if it's sim locked?

The problem is I can't get into the phone at all... If the guy that bought it did attempt a firmware upgrade and screwed it up, what can I do about it? I downloaded the current firmware from the SE website, but it won't install because it can't see the cradle - I suppose that's because the phone isn't actually booting into the OS.

You will probaby have to use the recovery mode on the SE website, the only downside is apparently you need to have performed an update in the past.

I have never used the recovery service so i am not sure how you can get the sync station working without having the phone functioning.

Suppose if you do get it sorted and deceide to relist it you should have a photo of the device working and not accept responsability if does not work their end, because this bloke sounds like he fkt it.
