> Firmware Upgrade "Yes Again"
Bookmark topic
Hi
I have just upgraded the firmware on my P910i (Orange)
from R1B01 to R3A01.
It took about 5 - 10 min to backup about 20MB
About 35 min to upgrade to Firmware
And Over 1 hour to restore my backups
Question
1, Why so long. Is the USB port Serial, not a true USB
2, What are the changes, because I have not found any yet
3, Where can I get the origanal Sony Ericsson P910 Shartup and Shutdown screen (Vids)
I Must say it is a little FASTER

You are correct in thinking that it is just serial emulation through USB, it sucks...

what is the point of that, then, maybe you have to change the settings in the options of prereferences, check it out, it might be because of that

All ericsson and

phones with the same connector as the P9xx (ei T28 onwards) only actually support RS232 serial connetion. The USB leads (inc DSS25) emulate the serial signal for the phone tom use. That is why the connection is slow.
There are rumours of a new connector on Clara so lets hope they have improved the signal speed.

oh man that does suck, sony can be annoying sometimes,
is it not possible to do firmware upgrades without having to emulate the serial settings,
and does that mean you can also upgrade t68i's and so on

Guys, don't look now but USB really *stands* for "Universal *Serial* Bus", even though some of us see it as "Useless Sh*err*Something Bus".
Besides, firmware is something you don't want to rush. I've updated *plenty* of firmware around servers, and I tell you one thing: Fibre-channel controllers are a bugger to update. You've got 4-6 of them in a server and you're done for a couple of hours, easy! Yes, the same buggers that move up to 2Gb/sec from the drives. I laugh at your update times!

1, What are the changes, because I have not found any yet
2, Where can I get the origanal Sony Ericsson P910 Shartup and Shutdown screen (Vids)
