Hi

I started receiving 3 copies of each MMS that was sent to me on my P900 several months back. At the time I didn't receive many (hardly any) and so just thought Vodafone were having a funny 5 minutes and ignored it.

I have since upgraded to the P910 and passed my P900 on to my gf. We started to send more MMS's to each other but soon stopped when the above issue was happening on both handsets.

The message is received almost instantly as normal and then again a couple of hours later and once more several hours after that (normally about 2 in the morning!)

Vodafone customer support are being particularly useless with this and so I hoped someone here has resolved the issue.

Please help us!

Oh... Another problem with MMSs on the P900...
When an MMS is sent from the P900 (not the P910) it says the the delivery failed and leaves it in the outbox. However, the message is delived fine (though I receive it 3 times!). As you can't move the message into the 'sent' folder manually we have been moving them into the 'draft' folder to get them out of the inbox.
We know that the message is sent ok as we have tried switching on the delivery report function. We switched this off again though as we received 3 of them, one waking us up at 2 am!

Any help on these 2 issues would be very warmly received.
TIA

I always seem to recieve several copies of the same MMS on my P900 sometimes too, although i've recieved a few tonight, and i only got two copies instead of the usual 5000.

Sometimes happens with text messages too, i end up getting duplicate copies..

Very strange. Never used to have this problem with my old firmware, perhaps it's something SE should be notified about? Bring this issue out of the dark..

Ok, The latest advice from Vodafone (so it must be good!) is that it's a software fault with Sony-Ericsson. This pretty much meant that they wiped their hands of any responsibility (despite selling me the POS). They did say that they would send it off to have the firmware upgraded for me (about a week turnaround) or I could do it myself.

I would like to askk you guys whether you think thay Vodafone are throwing me a line here, if I should have my firmware upgraded (I don't know what it is now), or if there is another route to follow in order to resolve this issue.

Many thanks

It's worth a try. I think the firmware on my P900 might be quite old.

Perform a full backup on your phone and then update your firmware from home using the Sony Ericsson website. Browse to your phone model and click Support, and you'll find a link to the Sony Ericsson Update Service (assuming you have a P900).

Once you've updated, restore all the stuff back on to your phone, and get someone to send you an MMS.

Let me know if it works because then i'll have to update my software too! Getting three pictures each time is getting annoying!

You're absolutly right, I did find that link. Unfortunatly it took me back to their home page. What's with that?!

That's just the carriers way of making extra money.
For some that's $0.25 each time MMS is sent or received (unless you have MMS plans).

My P910 has the same problem, when sending to one particular persons Vodafone Nokia phone. She receives each message 3 times over a period of about 5 hours.

However, her friend who is also on Vodafone does not receive multiple multimedia messages from me.

In my experiance, technical support always blame the other companys in the setup, and never have a clue what you are talking about anyways, they just read dummy prompts off their screen.

I doubt very much that updating firmware will fix yer problem. Honestly, what is it with you crazy kids and firmware updates, I never updated my P800 and the P910 has still got the same basic bugs!!

Seriously though I'd love to hear a solution to this problem, it is a pain as five hours later is often in the middle of the night.
