ESATO NEWS
Nokia has been working on a technology called Visual Radio, which takes an existing FM signal from a radio station and enables that station to add enhancements such as information and pictures.

Now watch every other country get an unlimited monthly subscription for this great idea other than the UK!
Seriously how much data is this going to eat - say you had it on all day at work? I take it the visual bit can be turned off.

If i'm not wrong, you can turn it off. was reading up on it and if i remember correctly, you can either have your normal fm or couple it wit your visual radio. But only one station in finland has it currently.

Interesting news, but I'd have to see it at work first to make up my mind about it. Hopefully, its not just another ploy to make subscribers dole out cash for another gimmick that no-one really needs.

the technology is already available in the UK. Its called DAB radio...
Yes at the moment its only basic text and radio but the bandwidth is there to stream video and pictures to compatible devices...
And it only costs the price of the device as there is NO subscription charges.

@voda_jon: You have to be kidding me. No subscription charges, no data tariffs? I can bet a year's salary that anyone who introduces that in my country would slap some neat charges on it.

yeh its true... but because it is such a new technology the devices still only allow text and audio.
But theres devices that can handle pics and video on the horizon. So fingers crossed... its just enhanced radio devices and digital radio...
