Just got a DSS-25. Didn't work at first until I found out that you have to enabled a com port (COM18). Now it does.

Anyways, I was backing up some data (pictures, themes, sounds, etc) from my phone to my computer. I noticed that the tranfers is RIDICULOUSLY slow. For example, transfering a Waip theme, which is 203 KB, takes about one and a half to two minutes. I think it's faster to do the transfer via Bluetooth. Is this a normal transfer rate on a DSS-25??? I'm unimpressed so far.

Also, I WAS excited about using the SE update service - I'm still using R2A and I hate the occasional lag. After reading some bad experiences on this forum, now I'm IF-fy, if I want to use the SE update service since the update service and R2AE033 fvck up your phone. Should I wait for a few weeks??? - I'm also kinda triggerhappy.

My phone was bought from eXpansys UK, unbranded sim-free, CDA102286/17 R2A, EU_2. I'm in the US and using a T-mobile SIM (which shows on the phone screen as Cingular Wireless).

Try to use FMA instead of the SE File Manager. Set connection speed to 460800 in FMA Options and the transfer speed will be over ten times higher, much faster than infrared!

This needs the support of your PC's motherboard, more specifically, the BIOS. Even if your it doesn't support up to 460800, use 115200 or 128000, and the speed should still be much higher.

I have used SEUS to upgrade my K700 from R2L001 to R2AE033, smooth as butter, no problem so far! Good luck.

What's FMA? Where do I get it? How do I access it? My DSS-25 is pretty slow. Makes me want to get rid of it. Sorry, I'm new to this. Thanks in advance for your help!

FMA -

http://fma.sourceforge.net

If your using the k700, you can also try k700DateiManager (its simpler than FMA)

Won't be much quicker though as the speed is restricted at the phone end and not the PC. It is not a software issue it is a phone hardware issue (well according to SE anyway).

Get yourself a bluetooth USB dongle and transfer files this way as it is by far the quickest method.
