It is really 5 way. 9 comes when you put two directions, one after another. This message was posted from a K500

The hardware is 9-way. Proof will be demanded so:
- enter the service menu and test the joystick, arrows will appear for all 8 directions + push; no need to push twice, it is really this direction;
- some games, like Bubble Trouble, make use of the 9 directions;
- you can feel the 8 direction positions when turning around the joystick
The main screens do not use the 4 extra directions; so far only the above mentioned situations do. Therefore the joystick appears 5-way.

there were many threads about this "joy-question", some members reported good experiences, some had problems with it after 1 month usage. i alwys tried to avoid to use the joy, instaed of it - if possible - i prefer the keypad.

I think it is nine way. Ive played this missile command game and it let me move the cursor in a diagonal direction. I wonder why SE didnt incorporate this into Super Real Tennis. This message was posted from a K500
