Hi,

my K700i has firmware R2A041.
I'm trying to use voice control, the feature is activated, but everytime I'm supposed to record a voice command, I get an alert "Sorry, nothing heard" _immediately_ after the beep. This happens regardless from which menu I arrive.

Recording a voice command used to work, now I canot get it to work again. Switching the phone off/on doesn't help, using the handsfree mic doesn't help.

I recently had the phone serviced by a Sony service center for the "blinking screen" problem (after a failed online firmware update). They had fixed it, but the firmware version was the same before and after. Is it possible the voice control now fails because of the servicing?

Thanks for tips. Couldn't find anything in the archive.

Perhaps it wants you to say the 'magic word' ... 'please'!

Seriously though, it sounds as if the recent 'repair' has done the damage, I suggest that you take it back to the service cenytre and ask them to have another look at it.

Ants, can you check your software versions, would be interesting if we find something in common.

Update to the issue:
After voice command recording fails, I neither can play any songs (MP3, MP4 or MIDI), with alert "Cannot play this sound" (these are the system sounds even like "Greeting"). But after a while, or while doing a bluetooth file transfer, the display flashes, goes to a blue background, goes off and comes back, and sound playback again works. It seems the phone resets something internally.
The voice command recording still is unavailable.

"Record sound" in the Entertainment menu always works, playback also always works. This really looks like a software issue, not a hardware failure.

I tried a Master Reset, to no avail.

Comparing all non-firmware software parts between before and after the Sony service, I see that I now have:
ITP CXC 125 813 R1T
Customization CDA102298/18 R25A

Before I had:
ITP CXC 125 813 R9T
Customization CDA 102298118 R24A

So that ITP software looks like a lower version than what I used to have. Does anybody know what ITP stands for? Could it have to do with sound management...

Stigworm i just tried it and its exactly what happens to you is what happens to me. After the voice dialing fails i can't play any midi or mp3 files but also my voice recording doesn't work either. If i turn my phone off and then turn it back on then mp3 and midi fles work.

My formware is R2AA003

and

ITP SW version
CXC 125 813 R1S

Customization
CDA102298/53 R6A cxc 125822 R2AA003 EU_2

Mga tsong mga stang ! ung k700 ko kasi ganyan din ang problem. Pinaayos ko sa SE glorietta nag ok na sya, pinalitan ng bagong software version ung phone ko kasi, mukhang ung old data ng phone ko ay corrupted. User data swap ang tawag.

Returning to this thread after 2 months:
I had meanwhile flashed my firmware and now have R2AE033.
The voice command problem still exists >-(

So I doubt it is a software problem - either a hardware defect or some corrupt setting in the soundship.

It's just a little feature missing, but in a car with a bluetooth headset it becomes a bigger issue, since voice dialling is essential here.

I'm not so sure if a service center can repair this, has anyone experienced this problem and fixed it?
