> K700i Orange UK Firmware

I was just wondering which method would be the best way of going around to update my K700 firmware:
a) DSS-25 dock via the SE website (or are Orange updates still blocked on the SE site?)
b) Sony Ericsson Service Center
c) 3rd party firmware sites with T28 cable (or are there any that work with a DSS-25 dock?)
I'm currently on R2L001 Orange branded firmware. It appears to be running fine except the first day I had the phone it crashed a few times turning it on (it seems to be ok now) and the battery life is a bit short (but the battery still needs breaking in - only charged twice).
Any advice?

I used the DSS-25 and the DaVinci client to fix mine.
It wasn't perfect - seemed to take for ages to get the client to recognise the phone was on the DSS, but once it found it, it went through very smoothly - no lock ups, no problems.
You'll have to re-input all your settings (gprs etc) but they are all in the manual Orange supply. Also, make sure you've backed up all your contacts etc.
The proper firmware is much better than the Orange hacked version - there are proper shortcuts. I'm a little annoyed at having to pay for the DSS and the code but it's worthwhile.
In the meanwhile I have been hassling Orange because they told me I could just get the firmware from the SE site, but I tried that and got the "blocked" message. I called Orange and they said it was SE's fault. I called SE and they said it was Orange's fault...
In the meanwhile... via email Orange have confirmed they are aware of the problem and "technical support" are working on it - ETA 7-10 days (they say).
If you don't have a DSS (don't pay £40 BTW! I got mine for £15 from i2020.co.uk) others here recommend setools.com as you can use the standard data cable.

TotalServer was one of the sites I was looking at but finding a T28 cable has proven slightly difficult to find and your limited to just phone updates with this cable.
Seems that the DSS-25 seems the best way. How much do credits usually cost for sites like
www.davinciteam.com ?

I'm a little hazy on the whole credits system but how many credits would it take to update the Orange branded firmware to the latest unbranded firmware?
Would it just be one to update the main firmware and file system firmware or does each file require one credit?
Also, does the language pack need to be updated when changing the firmware or can it be left alone?

I believe you need another credit if you want to unlock the phone (though other posts say not) but I didn't bother, all I wanted to do was lose the rubbish customisations (and get back the shortcuts).

Is it true after I load the phone with SE's version of the firmware, the SE online update service will still recognise it as an Orange phone through the IMEI and still block out updates?
